Admission policy for DCH approved

KARACHI:01 December :Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has given approval of the Policy for Admission in Diploma in Child Health (DCH) introduced by Karachi Medical & Dental College (KMDC) from the current academic year. Under the criteria candidates seeking for admission shall be MBBS/MD, certified from PMDC and having experience of house job in a pediatrics department or training from a recognized institute with holding Karachi Domicile. Under the CPSP Policy those registered with MCPS for FCPS training will not be eligible to apply for this course. The admissions will be based on merit of entrance test.
This may be noted that the Vice Chancellor of Karachi University had earlier on behalf of the academic council/syndicate gave formal approval of the introduction of DCH Course in the pediatrics department of KMDC under certain rules and regulations. The Karachi Medical & Dental College was counted among the major medial institutes of the country as it attained high standard within a short period of 20 years with best performance. The admissions in the college were strictly merit based and no one including the Administrator Karachi had any quota in the admissions. The MBBS seats in KMDC had been increased from 100 to 250 and the BDS seats from 50 to 100. Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan had on the fourth convocation held last month announced to give the status of university to KMDC and a grant of Rs100million. The Principal Prof. Waqar H. Kazmi was appointed as the first vice chancellor of the university. He on this occasion also gave approval of the various uplift and development projects planned for this college. Rules and regulations for naming college as City University of Medical Sciences were already worked out and the provincial health minister had given approval for this.PPI.
