Karachi:Two impersonation cases were reported during the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi’s (BIEK) Higher Secondary (School) Certificate annual examination 2011, along with nine other unfair means cases (UFM).
During a visit to several colleges, The News discovered that parents blamed staff as well as invigilators in failing to prevent candidates from using cheating methods while solving papers.
Farzana was accompanying her daughter to the examination centre at Government Degree Girls College, New Karachi, Sector 11-F, when she told The News that the staff did not thoroughly search candidates for cheating materials. She also alleged that students were openly copying answers from each other.
She recommended that BIEK officials pay surprise visits to examination centre to find out how examinations were being conducted.
Other parents present at the aforementioned centre blamed staff members from a number of other schools who they alleged were favoring some students while remaining strict with others.
Azeem, a concerned father, complained that the centre did not provide clean drinking water for its candidates.
Load-shedding was another point of contention for students and their parents. Many candidates said that power failures at examination centres were a menace, as the lack of electricity made it more difficult to solve examination questions. The news
