KARACHI:01 February: Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro Tuesday inaugurated the three-day book fair, organised by the Study Aid Project of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) at the Gymnasium, University of Karachi (KU).
Thousands of students and teachers participated in the book fair in which a large number of stalls were set up, providing books on various topics, including computer engineering, science, Islamic history and world history. The books were available at 50% discount.
Addressing the ceremony, Khuhro said that the event like a book fair was admirable because it was the need of the hour to make the relations of youth with books closer.
“The University of Karachi is my mother institute, so I am feeling very happy to see educational activities here,” he recalled. He said: “We want to promote educational culture. Books are best friends of human, which help build a successful nation.”
Justice (r) Syed-uz-Zama Sidiqui also visited the event. Expressing his views, he said: “In present era, youth prefer Internet over books. Discount at the book fair will provide opportunity to students to buy books in order to gain knowledge.Daily Times.
