Karachi:January 20:An activist of the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT), a student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami, who had been missing since December 18, returned home safely on Thursday. Maaz Farooqui was let go near Abdullah College in North Nazimabad in the vicinity of his home.
Some emotional scenes were witnessed on the return of Maaz. His family members broke into tears and prostrated in gratitude. A large number of leaders and activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing were present at Farooqui’s home to welcome him back.
The general-secretary of the JI Karachi, Naseem Siddiqui, said that the party was grateful to Almighty Allah for the safe return of Farooqui. He also attributed his return to the struggle of the party.
The Jamaat had staged a sit-in outside the police headquarters in the city for the release of missing persons last Friday.Siddiqui vowed that the JI would continue its struggle for the release of other party workers and office-bearers from what the JI leader alleged “illegal detention by the intelligence agencies”.
He said the abduction of civilians had led to a chaotic situation, and the families of those kidnapped had been exposed to a variety of physical, mental, emotional and financial problems. The Jamaat leader urged the government to ensure the release of all the missing JI workers and other people unconditionally.The news.
