Hyderabad: Jan 12: The Sindh University Teachers Association has warned of suspending all academic activities till the university administration accepts its demands.
A general body meeting of the association held here on Wednesday said that under prevailing circumstances on the campus, it was impossible for teachers to perform their duties.
The meeting decided that teachers would continue to hold demonstrations and issue statements to expose cases of corruption, mismanagement and inefficiency of the incumbent vice-chancellor.
The teachers resolved that teachers would take additional classes to complete the course following acceptance of their demands in order to compensate academic loss of students.
The meeting decided that each member of the association would contribute one day salary as financial assistance to the bereaved family of late Prof Bashir Ahmed Channar.
The association demands constitution of a judicial commission to investigate murder of Prof Channar, immediate removal of the vice-chancellor, Dr Nazir A Mughal, removal of police and Rangers and their replacement with university's own security, ban on student wings and restoration of student unions.
The SUTA office-bearers informed the meeting aboutpress conferences, demonstrations and open letters addressed to officials concerned and authorities about the implementation of demands.
The house was informed that although the association's one week deadline for the acceptance of demands had expired but no official response had been received so far from any quarter.
The president of the association, Dr Azhar Ali Shah, presided over the meeting.
