KARACHI: Make A Wish Foundation Pakistan (MAWFP) and Isra University Hyderabad recently joined hands to commemorate World Thalassaemia Day.
A six-year-old child Faisal Keerio, suffering from Thalassaemia major became a doctor for a day as per his cherished wish. Keerio received an honorary medical degree awarded by the Dr Ghulamqadir Kazi, Vice-Chancellor of Isra University, Hyderabad, thus making him the youngest doctor of Pakistan.
He visited the wards of the hospital wearing a doctor’s gown with stethoscope and other medical kit. He also received one-day salary of a doctor from the Isra Unviersity.
Four other children’s wishes to become a cricketer, to have a mobile phone, to have doll and dollhouse and meeting favourite Sindhi Singer Ahmed Mughal also fulfilled.
President Make A Wsih Foundation Pakistan Ishtiaq Baig thanked the vice-chancellor and the team of the Isra University for their collaboration to celebrate World Thalassaemia Day by fulfilling the wishes of children suffering from thalassaemia major.
Vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor and doctors of Isra University, Qazi Asad Abid, Make A Wish in-charge of interior Sindh Anila Sidhu, volunteers and parents of the wish children attended the ceremony.Daily times
