Karachi:A police constable (PC) was brutally beaten up outside a school for allegedly eve-teasing a girl student, however, it later transpired that he had come to pick his son from the school and later the matter was settled.

According to eyewitnesses, parents had come to pick their children from a private school situated on Burnes Road, Preedy police limits, on Tuesday afternoon when suddenly a girl shouted at a person for teasing her. Consequently, the person identified as PC Rao Azeem (40) was grabbed by the people present there and he was seriously beaten up and his clothes were torn apart.

A police mobile dispersed the mob. The person in question identified himself as an Operator in Sindh Police Bomb Disposal Unit.

The injured PC Azeem told the police that he had come to pick his son from the school. Later, the police tried to find the girl’s version but she had moved away from the scene. Later, Azeem’s brother Rao Naseem came for his rescue and asked the police to hold inquiry into the matter, however, the police could not find the girl. Later, the matter was settled by the police and the people present there.
PC Azeem is a resident of Artillery Maidan Police Lines. SHO Preedy police station said that no application was received from the girl’s parents in this regard. Azeem’s statement has been recorded.
