Karachi:A delegation of the European Union (EU) met Sindh Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq here on Saturday.
The EU delegation was headed by Markus Handke and included Ms Wendy Fisher, Dirk Swillens, Siddique Bhatti and Peter Portler. Haq was assisted by Provincial Education Secretary Siddiq Memon Saeed Saleh Jamali and Zafar Javed.
The meeting took place here at the office of Sindh Education Foundation. The matter pertaining to enrolment also came up for discussion at the meeting, according to a handout.
It was pointed out that the EU had approved 39 million Euros for the Sindh Education Department. Out of this 17 million Euros have been disbursed in the first phase.
At the meeting the Sindh Education Department gave a presentation regarding the targets that were set and that the results have been achieved so far.
The EU delegation appreciated the steps that have been taken by the Sindh Education Department regarding enhancement in enrolment in schools especially for the girls and the recruitment of teachers on the basis of merit.The news
