Sukkur School children protest
SUKKUR, March 26: Schoolchildren among others held a demonstration and staged a sit-in at Bhittai Chowk in Mirpur Mathelo on Friday in protest against non-availability of electricity in different localities for last three days.
Three transformers supplying electricity to Channa Muhalla, Wahab Shah Jeelani Muhalla, Main Primary School and Girls Primary School went out of order three days ago and Hesco officials were not replacing them despite repeated requests.
Led by schoolteacher Sadiq Kalwar, they marched the main streets of the city, reached Bhittai chowk and suspended traffic for three hours at G.T road.
Due to extreme hot weather, a student of class IV Zahid fainted and was taken to a local hospital.He was provided the first aid and sent home.
However, no Hesco officer reached to negotiate with the protesters.—Correspondent Dawan
