Study on situation analysis of gender disparity in Sindh teaching force

Karachi:July 25, 2010: The Sindh Education and Lieracy Department intends to carry out a four-month study on ‘Situation Analysis of Gender Disparity’ in the teaching force of primary and middle schools in the province under the Gender in Education Policy Support Project(GEPSP) in collaboration with DFID and UNICEF.

It is aimed at building the capacity of education policy makers, planners and implementers by providing them with better evidence-based knowledge to guide policy making, planning and implementation processes for reducing gender gaps in education.

The study is one of core initiatives in this direction to produce evidence based documents highlighting existing gender disparity in the teaching force to inform government, NGOs, civil society working for primary education to take corrective measures to reduce gender disparity in the concerned areas, particularly in rural areas of the province.

The Education and Literacy Department has asked consulting firms, NGOs, academic research institutes, individuals having requisite technical expertise to undertake the study to submit research proposals latest by July 30, 2010 to the GEPSP office, Karachi.The News,
