Hyderabad Teachers observe 'black day'
Hyderabad: Teachers of the Sindh University and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology on Tuesday observed a 'black day'.
They hoisted black flags on the university buildings and wore black armbands to press for the acceptance of their demands. The black day was observed on the call of the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association against cut in the budgetary allocations of the public sector universities.
Other issues included 50 per cent increase in salaries and medical allowance for the university teachers and employees as announced by the federal government, implementation of the decision of the universities' syndicates in hardship cases and against the re-employment of the retired professors.DAWN
