KARACHI: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) announced the result of both private and regular commerce groups of the HSC part-II Annual Examination 2009 on Friday.
At a ceremony, BIEK Chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai announced the names of position holders and distributed the prizes while examination controller Prof Agha Akber Mirza, Secretary General Ali Haider Naveen and the position holders’ parents were also present.
The BIEK chairman said students were showing an increased interest in commerce and the number of the students in commerce group has grown as compared to the pre-medical and pre-engineering groups.
Zia also said that the percentage of the passing students has reduced in the ongoing year as compared to last year. There are 70 colleges for both private and public sectors in which less than 30 percent students has passed the examinations and there are seven colleges in which not a single student has cleared all papers, therefore the affiliation of these colleges should to be cancelled, he said.
Talking to the media, DHA Degree College for Women’s Hira Alavi who achieved the first position said she did her matriculation in science but due to the wide scope in the field of commerce, she changed turned toward this direction.
She also said teachers in private sector colleges give more attention to their students as compared to those in government colleges.
Sania Aftab Bhuvad of Commecs Institute of Business and Emerging Sciences, who grabbed the second position, said she did not take tuitions but gave lot of time to studies at home.
Muhammad Hunain of College of Emerging Technologies and Saniya Siddiqui of Commecs Institute of Business and Sciences shared the third position
In the private candidate category, Amna Mazhar, Anum Fatima and Sana Ali grabbed the first three positions respectively.Daily Times
